You know what I love most about Christmas time?

The energy in the air. Folks making an effort to be kind. Offer smiles. Speak warmly to each other.

Most of us spend time trying to think of what we can do for others. How can we bring a smile to those that we care about? How can we extend ourselves to help out someone in need?

You know what my wish is?

My wish is that we hold onto this vibe. That we cling to this energy of selflessness. My wish is that year round we speak with kindness and respect to strangers we encounter.

If we see someone in need, we reach out to them. That we pause in our daily routine to think how we can show those that mean the most to us that they matter and we so deeply appreciate that they are a part of our lives.

This is my wish.....for what its worth.

"I have the greatest of all riches: that of not desiring them." ~Eleonora Duse♥

Someone on Twitter jokingly said they "wish I rec'v a HDTV for Christmas...."

Truth is, I literally have all I could ever want.

Over the past few days not only has kindness been expressed to myself. But I have received the best gift every Mother assumed was a myth --- which is kindness and *Love* expressed to my child.

Her name was Joyce Carol Vincent.

As I write this I speak her name out loud in a soft whisper. Who was she? What were her dreams? Who did she love?

The deepest question that remains unanswered is "How is it that Joyce died, alone in her apartment and was never discovered until THREE years later?"

Whenever I go on a trip or make an errand that is out of my routine, I let my loved ones know. When my friends take a road trip, they let me know their destination and expected time to return.

You have worked hard all day! Take some time for yourself and spend some time to laugh and smile.

This 2 year old might be 20 by now. All I know is that he is the most adorable little boy! True, you cannot make out what he's saying. And still, he is making more sense than many of the "rap" songs you will hear played over the airwaves.

2 Year Old Freestyle Raps in Gibberish with a Hype Man:

One of my favorite shows is "The Graham Norton" show. Far better than any of the US talk shows.

SAM COOKE

January 22, 1931 – December 11, 1964

"On December 11, 1964, Sam Cooke dies after being shot three times in the chest in Los Angeles.

Cooke was shot by Bertha Franklin, a manager at the Hacienda Motel. Franklin claimed Cooke threatened her life after attempting to rape a woman who had checked into the motel just a few hours before. To this day, people are still suspicious of what really happened at the Hacienda Motel… "

Well, Life Magazine has it right.

Many of you may have heard of The Queens of Comedy starring Adele Givens, Laura Hayes, Mo'Nique, and Sommore. But two women who I feel do not get the recognition the so deeply deserve are two legends in the comedy world.

See before, there was Mo'Nique, Sommore, Adele and Ms. Laura- there was Jackie "Moms" Mabley and Lawanda "Aunt Esther" Page. These ladies had the ability and skill to make the Def Jam comedians blush, if they so chose.

If your only knowledge of Otis Redding is from the Jay Z & Kanye West song 'Otis' then be prepared to experience the literal shift of your world of wisdom growing for the better.

Soul music did not begin nor did it end with Otis Redding, but it sure as heck would not have been the same without his presence.

His voice captures intimacy, passion and strength in such an authentic way.

Today's video profile is to shed some light on Country singer Jimmy Wayne. Yes- COUNTRY music! A majority of the music I listen to would be R&B, Rap, Jazz, Indie, and I don't know a lot about many Country singers. However, every now and then I come across a song and artist that moves me.

::cue Jimmy Wayne::

I first became aware of Jimmy Wayne by stumbling upon a clip of him singing the Hall & Oats song 'Sara Smile' on a VH-1 video site.

What I learned tonight is that you cannot play just one Idris Muhammad song. It's just not possible....Not if you enjoy great music that is!

My current favorite two songs by Mr. Muhammad are:

HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN:

This is simply way too FUNKY to ignore. It's the type of FUNK that forces your face to contort into something unrecognizable. Remember how Mr. Cosby use to do? Like something stunk.. no stank? See, when the talent is that raw and FUNKY - it doesn't stink...it stanks...
